Exciting exchange at the first BEATLE dialog forums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Thüringen.  [14.02.24]

In cooperation with the Landschaftspflegeverband Sternberger Endmoränengebiet, the BEATLE project team hosted the first dialogue forum at Medewege Farm in Schwerin-West Mecklenburg on 8 November 2023. Together with ten practitioners from the fields of agriculture, nature conservation and regional development, the foundation was laid for a future vision of a biodiversity-friendly agricultural and food system in Westmecklenburg. From now on, this will serve as an overview and guideline for future BEATLE events in the region.

On 20.01.2024, it was time in Thüringen: the first BEATLE dialogue forum for Rudolstadt-Saalfeld and Saale-Orla-Kreis took place at the Waldhotel am Stausee in Hohenwarte. Together with ten practice partners from the network of our cooperation partner, the Landschaftspflegeverband Thüringer Schiefergebirge/Obere Saale e.V., the dialogue was also used here to prepare the creation of a regional vision for the future.

Both workshops were moderated by Hannah Bücheler, whose results will also be part of her doctoral thesis. The collaboration with local partners from the field gives us, as BEATLE project, exciting insights into the challenges of agricultural and nature conservation work, as well as the opportunities for involving the local economy and civil society in the transformation to a biodiversity-friendly agricultural and food system. Over the next few years, we hope to expand biodiversity networks in the regions and support local stakeholders in realising their visions for the future.
