Research topic

Enhancing biodiversity in agri-food systems: Modeling and participatory analysis of transformation scenarios

The aim of this PhD project is to investigate how land use and food systems can be designed in a biodiversity-friendly way. The research project is divided into two core areas: In the first part, a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model is combined with a land use model to bridge from the market level to the ecological relationships taking place at the landscape level. In the second part, transformation scenarios are then evaluated together with stakeholders using model results to generate transformation knowledge. This jointly generated knowledge will be used to develop effective options for action and policy recommendations for more biodiversity in agriculture.
